Wednesday Worship—Every Wednesday

Members of the Wilmington College community gather for worship in the T. Canby Jones Meetinghouse in the Quaker Heritage Center, from 12:05–12:35 pm every Wednesday during the school term. Speakers and musicians are usually faculty, staff or students of Wilmington College. Worship includes a message, a period of open silence, and occasional music. ALL members of the College community are always invited to attend.

Mon., Oct. 3: WYM Open House for faculty, staff, & students

Every Fall, members of the Wilmington Yearly Meeting Wilmington College Committee hold an open house to introduce themselves to the college community. This year, presentations will be made by a WC faculty member, WC student, and a member of WYM on the use of Quaker business practice (decision-making by consensus). An open discussion will follow on whether, where, and/or how the College might expand the use of Quaker business practice. Homemade refreshments will be served.

4:00 p.m., TCJ Meetinghouse

Mon., Oct. 10: "Lessons from Afghanistan, Lessons for Friends."

The 15th Annual Wilmington College Quaker Lecture

Michael Snarr, Professor of Social and Political Studies at Wilmington College, will speak about his August trip to Afghanistan. Snarr and 2009 WC alumnus Matt Southworth, a legislative associate for foreign policy with the Friends Committee on National Legislation, got a first-hand look at the ravages of war during their weeklong visit "under the radar" of the State Department. Testimonials from Afghans representing many walks of life in the capital city of Kabul complement Snarr's status report.
